Padre loves him the funny NBA blogs

Father Scott

It appears my penchant for NBA posts is equal to Pax’s for obituaries of random pseudo-celebrities. But I digress.

I linked to one of my favorite NBA blogs last month, Hey Larry Hughes, Please Stop Taking So Many Bad Shots (from Deadspin and TrueHoop). I’ve checked it daily because the guy is really funny (check out the FAQ and About pages in addition to the regular posts), but today’s post is his best yet.

Hughes dropped 40 on the Orlando Magic last night leading the Cavs for a come-from-behind win, and shooting over 60%. I was wondering how the site would handle it and he does so perfectly, drafting a letter to Rod Thorn, New Jersey Nets GM, comparing the accolades of embattled Nets PG Jason Kidd and Hughes while suggesting Thorn trade Kidd to the Cavs (on serious terms, this move is essentially impossible. The Cavs have nothing of value to give anyone). If you follow the NBA remotely, it’s hilarious.

I guarantee LeBron is laying on his $8 million gold and unicorn-feather couch laughing his ass off.

Tatted and ready for action

  • I will personally castrate Rod Thorn if he makes that deal.

  • No kidding. Larry Hughes is probably the least likely player in the NBA to be traded, though, so you’re probably safe. Especially since it would take another of Cleveland’s crappy players [Newble, Marshall, or Damon Jones] just to make it work financially.

  • Jersey should just make Kidd play out his deal. Who wouldn’t want to play in Brooklyn? What an asshole.

  • Jason Kidd sucks. First of all, he’s getting markedly worse by the second. Secondly, he’s an asshole. Third, he demands a trade because the Nets won’t extend his contract at 20 mil per (Jason, you’re like 73 years old, chill out). THEN, his agents tell the Nets he’ll only go to a contender and if they trade him to a team not of his liking (basically Dallas, Cleveland, or the Lakers, none of whom can make a realistic trade with the Nets without the Nets taking back a dreadful contract (Dampier or Hughes, namely)), then they’ll steer their other clients clear of NJ/Brooklyn. What a weasely douchebag.

Actually, I think maybe their best move would be Carter to Indiana for J. O’Neal (Chris Sheridan brought it up in his article on ESPN today). I like Antoine Wright on the wings, and that European guy who’s name I’m forgetting now. Kidd/Wright/Jefferson/J. O’Neal/S. Williams isn’t too bad, though I think they’d be better off if they could dump Kidd too. If I were Thorn, I’d prefer to scrap the whole team and rebuild in earnest, but moving to a new building soon won’t allow that, they need a star.

  • Does Kurt Rambis still play?

  • No, he’s still hiding from Kevin McHale and the Chief.
