This is Chris Thile (now do you get it? Like file? Hoo, good one), one of the guys formerly of Nickel Creek, and he’s bluegrassing the shit out of The Strokes’ “Heart in a Cage” (the indisputed best song off First Impressions of Earth). Awesome rendition of the song, and Thile does a great job entertaining the crowd.

Yes, the mandolin is sweet. I once read that Ryan Adams recorded an acoustic version of The Strokes’ first album when he was sick and stuck in his apartment for a few days. I really wish I could hear that.

So I didn’t get it until I read your explanation.
I do agree that this is a great version of the song and Chris is quite the musician and a great entertainer. You should check out the new CD from him and the guys.
