I was watching that Oscars show and could not believe it when Art Carney won. He was fine in Harry and Tonto but Pacino and Nicholson were brilliant in films that became classics. Hoffman and Finney were also outstanding in their roles. It wasn’t as if they threw it to Carney for lifetime achievment as he was primarily a TV and stage actor.

ha ha do you really think it took a long time to get a photo of armpit hair on a woman? i enjoy my hair . the main reason is that i find whin i shave it i have the oder that is discribed . when i do not shave i never seem to have an oder i think the reason it grows their is for venting purposes as we all have it.

Hi, Pax. Just bumped into your blog after getting sucked in (once again) to the black hole where time disappears (i.e., the internet). It’s a typical time-suck story of listening and enjoying a Rick Steves’ podcast on my walk, googling that podcast and finding the Salon.com profile, skimming that and then reading your post about him (all before visiting the sites mentioned on the podcast that started). I agree. Where did they get that British lady ? The whole thing was a sham, including the showing briefly of the “helicopter ” gliph when the Egyptian woman was in the necropolis talking about the boat, she points to an arch above a hallway.it looked altered maybe?

Which “Western values” don’t you want them to have, Rick? Do you think Iran should have gay marriage-that’s a “Western value”. Separation of religion and state-the “fundiegelicals just got their a** handed to them this election-that’s a Western value. How about women allowed to wear what they want? Another form of “Western hegemony”?

No, it’s not “Just like Americans”; we don’t have morals police roaming the streets telling people (especially women) that they’re wearing immodest clothes.
No wonder Mainline Protestantism is shrinking away; with this twit representing them, I’d rather sleep in that go to a Lutheran church, too.
Middle-class, middle-aged and middle-brow Skim milk is more “vibrantly diverse” than this man, his show and his culture.

We don’t really know much about the actual use nor age of these megalithic structures. What I find disturbing is the inability of the orthodox sciences to open their minds and explore alternative theories. Sure, some are going to be super crazy – but some are logical and possible. For example, we know that in “accepted” theory – humans went from essentially mud huts to pyramids in a very short period of time. We do not know what really could have caused this massive spurt in knowledge and science to perform these feats of architectural excellence. Why don’t we explore the idea of a lost people who created great feats like this?

and yea, big surprise there was political turmoil in the 1950′s. It was still a mostly prosperous time but I guess if columnists couldn’t portray everything in a negative light they wouldn’t have much to write about.
