50 Cent is the most famous rapper ever to have exactly one popular song. And despite the fact that he shows up on your TV every six minutes in that one Vitamin Water ad, the man likes to use his startlingly durable commercial appeal judiciously.
Far be it from 50 to have his image corrupted by a marketing campaign from the lesser retail chains. That’s why he rejected Taco Bell’s offer to give his charity a $10,000 donation in exchange for changing his name to 79 Cent and rapping into a drive-thru window:
“This is a sleazy and ill-conceived publicity stunt by Taco Bell’s president, Greg Creed, whose disingenuous offer was leaked to the press before it was even presented to 50 Cent’s agent yesterday,” said 50 Cent’s rep to OK! Magazine.
Added the rapper himself, “When my legal team is finished with them, Taco Bell is going to have a new corporate slogan: ‘We messed with the bull and got the horns!'”
Wait a minute. When did 50 Cent turn into Dick Vernon?
