Ryan Weston out for the year

Father Scott

I was back at the old alma mater this weekend to see Bates demolish those evil Mules 31-21, and saw two-sport standout, and top basketball recruit Ryan Weston in a cast on the sideline. Women’s coach Jim Murphy (who was being honored as a quarterback of the greatest Bates football team in history, from back in 1969) confirmed that he’s out for the year.

You can read my previous thoughts about Weston here.

This is a big blow to the program — after bringing in back-to-back average to below-average recruiting classes (Brian Ellis the only guy who stands out), it looks like three in a row. And now we have a new, 25 year-old coach, and none of the all-NESCAC talents to help him encourage people to spend four years in Garnet.
